TFT Gizmos & Gadgets Mid-Set, Neon Nights, comes to PBE and will be live on February 16

Videogames

TFT’s largest roster swap to date shines in the latest mid-set update

London, UK – February 1, 2022 – TFT Gizmos & Gadgets’ Neon Nights mid-set update will feature more than 20 new units, three new champion traits, 80 new augments. It will also include a new pass, Little Legends, arenas and Project Abyssia as a new mythic Little Legend. On top of all of that, Silco from Arcane will be coming to add more than just his unstable concoction to the mix. The Mid-set will hit PBE test servers on February first and live servers on February 16th with patch 12.4.

Updated and Upgraded: New Traits

Hextech

Welcome to our Hextech dream, where every few seconds the Hexcore pulses with Hextech energy, granting allied Hextech units a shield for a few seconds. While Hextech units bear this shield, their attacks gain magic damage on hit.

Debonair

A trait that pulls together party-goers from across the Convergence, these soiree attendees know that there can only be one life of the party: the VIP.

Striker

Simple, yet striking, Strikers gain bonus attack damage to hit harder, and harder, and harder—turning Striker Emblems into gigantic Best Friend Swords to play with!

Socialite

With two new Socialites, the spotlight is sure to shine brighter! Socialite will still give bonus damage at (1), bonus mana regeneration at (2), and omnivamp at (3), but at (5) Socialite, all these bonuses will be DOUBLED!

Senna’s the new Socialite that turns pain into gain. Senna fires Piercing Darkness, which deals damage to all enemies in the direction of her target. For each enemy hit, she’ll heal the lowest health ally for a portion of the initial damage, plus a flat amount.

Rival

No longer just Sisters, Jinx and Vi have been pulled into the Convergence at an all new time in their careers—as Champions of Piltover and Zaun. For Vi, this means a new ability to show off her charming personality, and gauntlets.

Jinx still has her cliffhanger worthy ability, Super Mega Death Rocket, but with the updated trait, Rival, you’ll want to run either Jinx or Vi, as the two sisters can no longer work well together.

Augments, Augmented

In addition to our biggest mid-set roster swap to date, Neon Nights brings over 80 new Hextech Augments, the Edge of Night item, and a few other fun new gadgets.

Neon Nights comes with new gadgets and gizmos aplenty. Augments allow players to insert a ton of variety and decision making in each game.

New Item: Edge of Night

With the mid-set we’re swapping out Guardian Angel with Edge of Night, a brand new anti-burst item.

With Edge of Night, players maintain the powerful aggro drop, but give it a clear visual power in the form of a stealth that also sheds debuffs and afterwards grants an additional boon of attack speed.

Scouting your Future and your History

Last, and arguably most impactful, comes two experience changes that we will be implementing with the mid-set. First up, the Scouting Opponent Hint System!

There’s a lot to do in TFT, and keeping track of what opponents you’ve fought recently to know who you are more likely to fight next is just one more thing.

So, with the introduction of Neon Nights, and Augments like Future Sight that utilize opponent tracking, we pulled the trigger. We’re working on a matchup tracker that will help you get a sense of your next opponent. And while we see this as a necessary improvement to our UI, we want to make sure it’s done right—so expect this to launch a bit after our initial mid-set’s release.

We’re also updating our end of game match history to show Augments that players have chosen, and allow more units to be displayed for cases where players have a couple Tactician’s Crowns from a Mercenary cashout. Players can now scroll through their match history and examine their choices.

PROJECT Abyssia: New Mythic!

We’ve got a new Mythic Little Legend stealing the show during Neon Nights. PROJECT Abyssia is here to flaunt their new tech, and maybe “borrow” some more.

Little Legends Glowed Up for the Glow-down

The Little Legends of Neon Nights herald in a bright future to the fleeting light of tonight.

Gizmos & Gadgets Pass II

The Gizmos & Gadgets Pass II is your ticket to explore all the new bits and bots Neon Nights has to offer. Just like any other pass, players will play games and complete missions to further your progress and earn free rewards like emotes and Little Legend eggs.

Flex Check at the Hextech Battle Arena

In addition to the Pass+ arenas, Neon Nights takes players to the place where Choncc and Pengu are destined to put their battle bots to the test. The Hextech Battle Arena is a futuristic esports arena that casts your games with it’s over 97 unique lines that respond to your actions.

League of Legends: Renata Glasc reveals herself before her arrival on the Summoner’s Rift with patch 12.4

Videogames

“Progress comes at a price others aren’t willing to pay.”

London, UK – February 1, 2022 – Renata Glasc, the Chem Baroness, is the 159th champion in League of Legends and will be joining the Rift in Patch 12.4! Introduced as a Support, Renata Glasc descends from a family of resourceful and altruistic Zaunits alchemists. Thanks to her foresight and business acumen, she grows up to be an important figure in the district. Ambitious and with an advanced technological heritage, she plans to go beyond the borders of Zaun.

Renata Glasc Abilities Rundown:

Passive – Leverage

Renata Glasc’s basic attacks mark her enemies and deal bonus damage. Damage from Renata’s allies consumes the mark, dealing additional damage.

Q – Handshake

Renata Glasc sends out a missile from her robotic arm that roots the first enemy hit. She can reactivate the ability to throw the enemy in a target direction, damaging enemies hit and stunning them if the thrown target is a champion.

W –  Bailout

Renata Glasc grants an allied champion or herself ramping Attack Speed and Move Speed toward enemies. If the ally gets a takedown on an enemy champion, the buff duration resets. If the ally would die while Bailout is still active, their health is set back to full but they begin burning to death over 3 seconds. The ally can stop the burn by getting a champion takedown before they die.

E – Loyalty Program

Renata Glasc sends out chemtech rockets that shield allies and damage and slow enemies they pass through. The rockets also apply their effects around her on cast and in an explosion at max range.

R – Hostile Takeover

Renata Glasc sends out a cloud of chemicals that causes enemies to go Berserk, increasing their Attack Speed and forcing them to basic attack anything around them. Berserk enemies prioritize attacking their own allies, then neutral units, then Renata Glasc’s team, then Renata Glasc herself.

“Work for me, or work against me—doesn’t matter. Everyone comes to my side eventually.”

Zeri, the Spark of Zaun

Run fast, charge up, shoot the bad guys. Zeri, the Spark of Zaun, surges onto the Rift in patch 12.2!

“I stood up for my community. I can stand up for others too.”

Passive – Living Battery

Zeri gains Move Speed whenever she receives a shield. When she damages an enemy shield she absorbs its energy, shielding herself.

Q – Burst Fire

Passive: Zeri’s basic attack deals magic damage, scales with AP, and is treated as an ability. Moving and casting Burst Fire stores up energy in Zeri’s Sparkpack. When fully charged, her next basic attack will slow and deal bonus damage.
Active: Burst Fire shoots a burst of 7 rounds that deal physical damage to the first enemy hit.
Burst Fire scales with AD and is treated like an attack, with the first round applying on-hit effects. Its cooldown matches Zeri’s basic attack timer.

W – Ultrashock Laser

Zeri fires an electric pulse that slows and damages the first enemy hit. If the pulse hits a wall it fires a long range laser from the point of impact.

E – Spark Surge

Zeri dashes a short distance and energizes her next 3 casts of Burst Fire, causing them to pierce through enemies. She will vault over or grind along any terrain she dashes into, depending on the angle. Hitting a champion with an attack or ability reduces Spark Surge’s cooldown.

R – Lightning Crash

Zeri discharges a nova of electricity, damaging nearby enemies, and overcharges herself for a moderate duration. While overcharged, Zeri gains increased damage, Attack Speed, and Move Speed. Attacking enemy champions refreshes the overcharge duration and adds another stack of Move Speed. While overcharged, Burst Fire’s damage concentrates into a faster triple shot that chains lightning between enemies.

“Fight’s gettin’ messy. At least I’m consistent.”

Withered Rose Zeri

Zip, zap, and zoom with Zeri in patch 12.2!

Riot Games announces 30 Community Grant Winners during RiotX Arcane Progress Days Celebration

Videogames

30 nonprofit organizations around the world nominated by players will each receive $10,000 grants to continue their work
LOS ANGELES – Nov 10, 2021 – Riot Games announced today the 30 recipients of their $10,000 community grants as a part of Progress Days inspired by Riot’s new TV series, Arcane League of Legends. Throughout the month of November, Riot is uniting its games and products for a global event called RiotX Arcane to bring together players and fans for the launch of the company’s first television series. As a part of the celebration, Riot is honoring the incredible work that these nonprofits are doing all around the world in hopes of inspiring progress.
Over the summer, Riot invited players from around the world to become a ‘force for good’ and nominate a nonprofit and/or a cause area that was important to them. Along with the nomination, players were asked to share a testimonial to explain why this cause was meaningful to them and how it was impacting their local community. Over 19,000 submissions came in from players around the globe and Riot’s social impact team, with the help of their partners ImpactAssets and GlobalGiving, vetted and chose 30 nonprofits to receive $10,000 donations. These high-impact nonprofits support a wide range of countries and cause areas, including an organization from New Zealand that supports community wellbeing and a nonprofit from Brazil that advocates for the rights of people with intellectual disabilities.
“Throughout Riot’s history we’ve seen time and again players come together as one collective community to support the smaller communities they are a part of,” said Jeffrey Burrell, Director of Social Impact. “I want to give the credit where it’s truly due and that’s to the players. It’s really special when we put out a call like this to players and get such an overwhelming response. We couldn’t do this work without them.”
The Riot Games Social Impact Fund is Riot’s nonprofit engine for our collective efforts for global social impact. Through the Social Impact Fund, in partnership with ImpactAssets and managed by GlobalGiving, Riot was able to distribute these grants to over 18 countries around the world. By being able to involve hyper-local NGOs serving local community needs, Riot is able to directly support the causes and interests of their community of players on what matters most to them.
Here are the 30 nonprofit winners:
América Solidaria Argentina, APAE Brasil, Ape Action Africa, Asian American Success Inc., BeLonG To, Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation, Clean Up Australia, Coalition for Rainforest Nations, Cordem ABP, Fundación Aquí Nadie Se Rinde I.A.P, Fundación Minga Valpo , Fundación Superación Pobreza, Genesis Women’s Shelter, Ingenium ABP, Instituto Vovô Chiquinho, LÖSEV, Maslow Project, Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA), Plan International Japan, Prairie State Legal Services, Shatterproof, Société Protectrice des Animaux (SPA), SPEAR Islington (Resurgo), Story Tapestries, The Nature Conservancy, The Table Community Food Centre, Verein für krebskranke Kinder Harz eV,  WAI Wanaka, WaterAid, and World Wildlife Fund-SA.
The $300,000 in community grants adds to another successful year of social impact. Earlier this year, Riot launched the charitable skin “Elderwood Ornn” and mobilized players to achieve real impact in their own communities while participating in a global event that raised over $7 million for the Social Impact Fund. Also this year, VALORANT held its first in-game fundraiser with a Give Back Bundle which raised over $5.5 million. 50% of the proceeds from weapon skins and 100% from accessories in the Give Back Bundle went towards Riot’s Social Impact Fund to be distributed to various nonprofits. In total, players have raised over $12 million through Riot’s in-game fundraisers for 2021.
